Vallens and company explore the stigmas of addiction in a new clip.
The latest visual treatment from their Consent album shows Robin Phillips and her band along with many faces on the Toronto music scene (Jesse Crowe of Beliefs, Laura Hermiston of Twist, Cristina Naccarato of Pony) laze and cook in their dishevled manner before gazing upon the “Karen” figure’s tourmented dance. The beautifully directed video from follows the swirling and spiraling melodies of the latest taste from the upcoming collection of shoegaze ditties.
Phillips said this about the clip that can be viewed below:
“(This song was ) written about witnessing friends and family with addictions, and how people with addictions are misunderstood. Karen Carpenter’s addiction also had to do with the female specific issues that can trigger addiction. Musically it’s supposed to feel like a downward spiral.”
Consent drops June 24th via Hand Drawn Dracula.
