IN OTHER DUDES: PUP – “DVP” (Pop Punk/Loud Rock//Toronto, ON)

PUP take a break from being on the road to write songs about being on the road…

Since making a major splash on the North American punk scene with their 2014 self titled collection of slammers, the Toronto four-piece headed back to the studio for their anticipated sophomore release. And what better way to kick off the album with a track about one of their hometown of Toronto’s more infamous annoyances, the Don Valley Parkway or “DVP”. Following their signature in your face sound, the latest ditty from the boys is a cluster-fuck of pop punk ooos and ahhs. But if PUP is good for one thing it’s for going from 0 to 60 with finger cutting guitar riffs and thunderous drum crashes. So why not start the hype for their 2016 released record the same way.
